Giving something back to our communities is really important to BPS and we have selected the following groups/organizations to support during 2011.
Aberdeen Foyer Anne Iravani is an Ambassador for Aberdeen Foyer, which assists young homeless people by providing accommodation and training to help them gain employment. If you don’t already know about the brilliant work being done at Aberdeen Foyer, or the businesses they run to finance their work, visit them at www.aberdeenfoyer.com or contact Anne to see how you could get involved. GAP (Grandparents As Parents) In the area of Northfield, Aberdeen, a small self-help group has been running to support grandparents who, for a variety of reasons, (including accident, alcohol or drug abuse, imprisonment or death), find themselves as full-time carers for their grandchildren. BPS has organized a fund-raising lunch and is now helping the Committee to organize an Open Day on 5th November at Aberdeen Arts Centre. For more information contact Chair, Betty Anderson on 01224 712236 or 07541 002450. CLIC-Sargent CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading children's cancer charity, and is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support, during treatment, in hospital and at home and after treatment. See www.clicsargent.org.uk for details. BPS is helping H1 Healthcare to raise £40,000 to fund a local outreach nurse by organizing a number of fund-raising events in 2001 and 2012, including an art exhibition, a lunch and a charity ball. If you would like to be involved in any of these events, as a guest or a sponsor, please contact Anne Iravani on 01651 891790 or Email: bpscotland@btopenworld.com |
